Twitter Features: No More Background Images for Profiles, Users Complain
Twitter users have discovered that their profiles are now less customized. Starting Monday, Twitter began removing users' custom wallpapers and background images from their profiles, CNET reports.
Users on Twitter will notice that their timeline and Notifications page will no longer show the background image they selected. Now, all profile backgrounds are a simple off-white color and no longer allow for this customization. The only distinguishing feature of the new profiles is the top header image.
Twitter has long offered the capability for users to upload a custom image to promote their profile or company, leaving many less than excited that this customization has been stripped away. Frustrated users have noticed that they can still go into their settings and set up a new background image, but this background disappears after closing and returning to the website.
Some users like Edzel Yago have protested this development:
Twitter, why you take away my background? =[

Even T-Mobile's CEO John Legere weighed in on the unwanted change.
Hey @Twitter, why you messin with my background? #IAmBatman https://t.co/BYaPogK6OQ — John Legere (@JohnLegere) July 21, 2015
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed to Mashable the company's move to get rid of background images.
"We're removing background images from the home and notifications timelines on web for all users. Now, background images are only available where logged-in users will see them publicly (Tweet pages, list pages and collections pages). You can find help center content about customizing your design and where it's visible on Twitter here," the spokesperson said.
Still, some clever users may have discovered a workaround to get the background images back:
If your Twitter background has disappeared and you want it back, here's how to do it. https://t.co/yApP0sY600 — Cammy H (@cammywrites) July 21, 2015
