Comic Book Series Featuring HP Lovecraft and Nikola Tesla Being Adapted as TV Series
The comic book series "Herald" is being brought to TV by Romark Entertainment.
The series features the real life persons of H.P. Lovecraft and Nikola Tesla as heroes, as reported by Deadline.
Lovecraft and Tesla team up in the comic series, which is a fictional account of the two historical people, and act as heroes who employ science to their methods. It takes place in an alternate universe that fictionalizes the accounts of the two characters who take part in various endeavors.
The comic doesn't just focus on Lovecraft and Tesla, though. It features them time-traveling throughout history and teaming with other legendary people as they make their way across the universe to save the world from certain horrors that await them.
The original comic was created by John Reilly along with artist Dexter Weeks. Now that Romark has acquired the TV rights to the comic adaptation, the TV series "Herald" will be produced by Rock Shaink of the company as well as Mark Lawyer of Markerstone Pictures.
Markerstone has entered into a partnership with Romark in this TV endeavor that will no doubt lead to a successful run with the two characters having a large following of devoted fans in real life.
There has been no word where the TV series will land. It might be a good fit for broadcast TV networks, but it may get shopped to premium cable channels like HBO or Showtime for release, depending on the content.
There could also be a future for the TV series on a non-liner platform like Netflix or Hulu, given the emerging popularity of their original shows recently.
JoBlo reports that the comic series has a very unique structure to its initial setup.
"When Nikola Tesla's fiancée, Amelia Earhart, steals a dangerous prototype engine for a trans-Atlantic flight, Tesla seeks out the interdimensional expertise of H.P. Lovecraft to save her. Lovecraft, however, has problems of his own as he investigates the identity of Cthulhu's Herald," the JoBlo article read.
