Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will not face each other inside the Octagon or boxing ring, but Victor Ortiz believes the Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion will win in an MMA match.

Ortiz, a former boxing world champion who once lost to Mayweather, told Sports Illustrated that boxers and mixed martial artists have different style.

If Rousey and Mayweather collide inside the UFC Octagon, Ortiz is convinced the undefeated boxing champion has no chance against Rousey.

"That's a different world," Ortiz said when asked if Mayweather has a chance against Rousey inside the Octagon. "A boxer can't step into an octagon and do boxing things to them. And if it is, it's probably minimal. To think that Floyd has a chance in a UFC fight against Ronda, no."

Ortiz quickly added, though, that mixed martial artists like Rousey will also have a hard time dealing against boxers in a boxing match because of the contrasting styles.

"It's also the other way around, if you put a UFC fighter strictly boxing for 12 rounds, it's different," Ortiz added. "It's just you can't compare the two sports, I don't think."

MMA champion Tito Ortiz also gave his take on the debate earlier this week. Tito Ortiz believes Rousey will easily win by submission against Mayweather, but he insisted that there is no point in comparing the two sports.

"It's two separate sports," Tito Ortiz said. "People have to understand it's like apples and oranges. It's like comparing chess to checkers. Mixed martial arts is chess and checkers is boxing. They don't compare at all. It's like a kids game compared to a romance game."

Talks about the fantasy match between Rousey and Mayweather intensified after the former took a swipe at the reigning boxing pound-for-pound king during the 2015 ESPY Awards earlier this month.

Rousey defeated Mayweather in the race for the Best Fighter award. After receiving the award, Rousey blasted Mayweather, saying that she is hoping the Grand Rapids native is now aware who Ronda Rousey is.

Rousey, who will put his UFC women's bantamweight title and perfect 11-0 record on the line at UFC 190 on Aug. 1 in Brazil, recently explained why she mocked Mayweather during the ESPY Awards.

"Somebody asked Floyd - 'what do you think would happen if you and Ronda Rousey fought.' And he said 'Ronda Rousey? I don't know who he is.' And then someone explained who I am and he was like 'I ain't know who that is.' It was a real subtle and snarky jab at me," Rousey told BoxingScene.
