The award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead on Sunday at the age of 46. He was recently seen in the sequel of the film adaptation of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In the hit young adult movie, he played the role of Plutarch Heavensbee who is the head gamemaker that gives commands to the rebels of District 13.
The news of his death that shocked the world initially mentioned that the cause of his sudden passing was due to drug overdose. For those who still cannot believe the news, then here are top 5 things to know about the sudden Philip Seymour Hoffman death.
1. His body was discovered with syringe and heroin. According to police authorities, the 46-year-old actor was discovered dead with a syringe in his arm along with two bags with heroin.
2. The actor's body was found in an apartment located in Greenwich Village which he also uses as his office, NY Times mentioned.
3. It was a friend who discovered the actor dead inside the apartment since the friend has been worried about not being able to reach Mr Hoffman.
4. Mr Hoffman did not keep his struggles with drug addiction a secret. In a 2006 interview, he once mentioned that he had given up drugs and abuse in alcohol when he was as young as 22.
5. It was just last year when the stocky looking actor went into a rehabilitation program which lasted for 10 days after having relied on prescription pills and turned again to heroin use.
Telegraph UK reports too that the actor was working on a TV series entitled Happyish for the Showtime network. However, according to a source mentioned by E! News that the show is unlikely to push through with the sudden death of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Mr Hoffman is popularly known for playing intense character roles instead of the usual leading man parts.
