"Outlander," the romantic time travel series on Starz, is currently filming episodes for its second season.

Caitriona Balfe, the 35-year-old Irish actress and model who plays Claire Beauchamp on the show, is dishing about all the new material. Speaking to Access Hollywood at this year’s Comic-Con, Balfe explained that visually, "Outlander" is going to be a “very different show this year.”

“The sets are fantastic -- so rich and so lush and the costumes are incredible, but you know what I've been really enjoying is that Claire's pregnant and playing all of that -- what that brings up in her and about impending motherhood and everything.”

Claire, the character she portrays, was always under the impression that she could not get pregnant. Now, suddenly with child, she is experiencing profound changes.

"It changes everything," Caitriona said. "When you kind of believe that something is impossible and then that changes … it brings up a lot of stuff about her own family and her past.”

Claire, who commences her adventures as a nurse in World War II nurse before being transported to 18th century Scotland, lost her parents when she was 5. Because her character never had a maternal figure in her life, the actress feels that the storyline of her pregnancy will stoke a great deal of emotion and brings Jamie and Claire closer together.

As it turns out, a deep sense of soul searching is vital to Diana Gabaldon, the author of the book series that inspired the show. In a recent interview in Vulture, Gabaldon reveals that Claire's spirituality is important to her, and as a Roman Catholic, she is sensitive to the way her characters find their spirit in the scheme of things.

Season 2 of "Outlander" will air on Starz in 2016.
