Bobby Shmurda Arrest & Bail: 'Hit Em Hard' Rapper Faces More Charges, While Flavor Flav Offers to Bail Him Out
Rapper Bobby Shmurda faces new charges for bringing contraband into Rikers Island prison.
Prosecutors say Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, has been accused of having his girlfriend, Kimberly Rousseau, smuggle a knife into the prison, according to The New York Times.
Shmurda is being held at Rikers Island jail on gang conspiracy and gun charges. Now, he is facing additional felony and misdemeanor charges for promoting prison contraband, perjury and criminal possession of a weapon. The 20-year-old rapper pleaded not guilty on Thursday.
Prosecutors say Rousseau gave Shmurda a sharp metal object that was hidden in her bra during her June 21 visit to the Anna M. Kross Center on Rikers Island. Shmurda denied it ever happened.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old woman has been charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of promoting prison contraband and of criminal possession of a weapon. She pleaded not guilty in an arraignment on Wednesday and was released with a hearing scheduled for August.
Hours before Shmurda was charged with the additional counts, Rapper Flavor Flav released an Instagram video offering to bail Shmurda out of prison.
"We in the bank right now, B, we got dough," the reality TV star said while waiving stacks of money in the air along with an assistant.
Prosecutors offered Shmurda eight years in prison.
The "Shmoney Dance" star was arrested back in December along with a few other defendants as part of a 101-count indictment imposed on the GS9 gang by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for New York City.
The gang is linked to several shootings that prosecutors allege Shmurda was involved in.
Shmurda's trial is set to begin Oct. 5 along with rapper Rowdy Rebel. Other members of GS9 under similar charges are scheduled to be in court on Sept. 16.
Some members have been offered plea deals but nothing has been finalized as of yet.
