"Castle" show executives have cast veteran actress Toks Olagundoye in the new role of Hayley for Season 8 of the show.

According to Vine Report, "there is a strong possibility" that Olagundoye's character could cause discord in the long-running relationship of costars Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). Olagundoye is expected to play the role of Hayley, a security specialist who finds herself working closely with Castle.

Complicating the situation all the more is the fact that Hayley's emergence comes at a time when Beckett might be a bit distracted, as she entertains thoughts of making a run at political office.

TVLine reports Fillion recently tried to allay the fears of Castle and Beckett fans concerned about a possible split between the two. In Fillion's mind, changes could be coming the characters way, but these are necessary evils "crucial to the success of the show."

There are already reports that Penny Johnson will not be returning to the cast as Captain Victoria Gates. Show runner David Amann is also out, having been replaced by the tag-team of Alex Hawley and Terence Paul Winter.

In addition, reports are Katic's Beckett character will not at all appear in the Season 8 premiere set to air on ABC sometime this fall. According to Cartermatt, Katic simply had some projects she needed time to complete before rejoining the set.

The website adds the first episode is entitled "XY." The premiere will address some of the mystery around Beckett's future, and that plot line will continue "to play a role through at least the first part of the season."

"Castle" also stars Seamus Dever as Kevin Ryan, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle and Jon Huertas as Javier Esposito.

Season 8 premieres on Sept. 21.
