‘Reign’ Season 3 Spoilers: A Spanish Prince Arrives With His Eye on the Throne, Mary’s Mother Returns
The CW's "Reign" Season 3 will welcome three new faces to the court. Nick Lee, Ben Geurens ("Nikita") and Saamer Usmani ("Home and Away") have joined the cast of the historical drama in recurring roles, reports The Wrap.
Geurens will portray Don Carlos, described by showrunners as a "sexy and charming" Spanish prince with "very specific sexual tastes." He will "prove a point of intrigue and desire for the royals." He also dreams of becoming king.
Lee is playing Nicholas, England's likeable ambassador to France. The French court needs to interact with him cautiously, as he is Queen Elizabeth's (Rachel Skarsten) spy and holds a grudge against Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane).
Usmani takes on the role of a "fearless and dangerous" pirate named Martin, who arrives at the French court with an insatiable appetite for French ladies. He reportedly prefers Highborn ladies and is searching for a bride. Could one of Mary's ladies-in-waiting be the target of his affections?
Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that Amy Brenneman will reprise her role as Marie de Guise in at least one episode during the show's third season.
The last time Mary's mother appeared on "Reign," she revealed that she was dying. While we do not know the details of her return, Marie will surely be in ill health. Will Mary visit her dying mother in Scotland, or will some pressing matter cause the dying woman to travel to France?
Mary's mother will offer much needed advice to her daughter about coping with King Francis' terminal illness and Catherine de Medici's (Megan Follows) plot against her with Queen Elizabeth.
As Latin Post previously reported, Season 3 will also offer a first glimpse into the life of Queen Elizabeth and her English court.
Season 2 concluded with Catherine visiting Queen Elizabeth to ask for help in plotting against Mary. We can only imagine the drama to come when "Reign" Season 3 debuts on Oct. 9.
