Windows 10 Release News: Errors Found in Latest Test Version Prior to Wednesday Release
Just two days before it is set to go out to many computers across the world, Windows 10 is experiencing some errors.
According to CNet, the latest preview version of Windows 10, called KB3074681, has been released to members of the Windows Insider Program. Some users are experiencing crashing with this latest build.
The latest build of Windows 10 was pushed out on Saturday. Users are reporting if they try to uninstall a program using the Control Panel instead of the Settings screen, their session will crash and they will be re-directed to the Windows 10 desktop.
If a user goes into the Control Panel and double clicks a program or right-clicks it and attempts to uninstall a program, the Control Panel will crash and the desktop will appear.
This bug is affecting the current build of Windows 10. This is expected to be the final build before the official Windows 10 full version is released on Wednesday. Microsoft will push out Build 10240 to people on Wednesday. The first people to receive the Windows 10 upgrade will be those who were part of the Windows Insider Program.
Microsoft is planning on a slow rollout of Windows 10. Instead of allowing everyone to receive the update on the same day, Windows 10 will slowly be phased out to customers in waves. After Windows Insider Program users receive their update, Windows 7 and 8 users who reserved their copy will get the update.
Microsoft will be able to solve any bugs that are discovered during Windows 10's early days, before all customers receive it.
The latest bug to appear in Windows 10 is already being addressed, according to Gabe Aul, the engineering general manager for Microsoft's operating systems group.
Microsoft prefers that its users uninstall programs by using the Settings menu rather than the Control Panel, which it is slowly trying to phase out. Users are accustomed to using the Control Panel to adjust their settings, so Microsoft will slowly have to address this issue.
According to Forbes, there is a temporary fix to the uninstall issues. Users are encouraged to go to Programs and Features and then click uninstall to remove a program.
