American electric automotive manufacturer Tesla Motors is coming out with not one but two vehicles that are set to make waves in the EV market. The company has recently announced that the SUV Model X is already open for pre-order to Australian clients while Model 3 is set to debut in the market with amazing power and travel range.

The EV company will try to make waves in the sports utility vehicle market with its upcoming Model X. The seven-seater vehicle aims to marry together the functionality of a sports utility car with the performance and features only known to Tesla.

Not too many details have been released for the upcoming vehicle as of the moment.

However, the manufacturer's website revealed that, "Every Model X comes with all-wheel drive standard, powered by two independent, digitally controlled electric motors."

It also noted that "Falcon Wing" rear doors will be added to make the passengers' way towards the third row of seats easier to access.

Opening doors for the ladies

According to Tesla, while the company has predominantly attracted male customers for its Model S cars, the upcoming Model X is designed to cater to both genders.

"We've been heavily skewed towards the male demographic and I think that's mainly due to probably [the media] more than anything," said Tesla spokesperson Heath Walker.

Rumors have pointed to a Model X with two options in lithium-ion battery packs, noted The Australian. However, it is still unclear if it will be 70 or 85 kW/h with a higher performance.

No price range has been announced for the Model X but reports have said that it might be around $84,200, the same as the rate for the BMW X5. The Model X is set for a release in 2016.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 is set to arrive to retailers in 2017, after an early release slated in March 2016.

As stated on Autocar, the upcoming sedan is rumored to have a performance of up to 62mph that can rival BMW's M3 model. It was also reported that the car can reach up to 300 miles of electric range in just a single charge - very powerful and economical at the same time.

The upcoming Model 3 will use steel on its body instead of the usual aluminum, said Clean Technica. The body make will also be smaller than the Model S.

No actual price has been set for the Model 3 but reports have claimed that it's price range will be within $35,000.
