Tom Cruise can do his own breathtaking action movie stunts, but can he beat "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon in a lip sync battle?

The challenge took place on "The Tonight Show" Monday night as Fallon stood on stage and announced it was time for another lip sync battle.

"And tonight, I am facing off against one of the biggest movie stars of all time. His latest film, 'Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation,' is in theaters and IMAX this Friday -- put it together for Tom Cruise," Fallon said.

Cruise came out on stage to grand applause before the two men faced off in an epic lip sync showdown. Each had secretly picked two songs to perform.

As the honored guest, Cruise went first and performed The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face," complete with intense facial expressions and backlighting. When it came time to lip sync the "I can't feel my face when I'm with you" chorus, Cruise's sexy dance moves were a big hit with the studio audience.

Fallon yelled, "Come on!" once Cruise finished, looking pained at the thought of following the actor's successful effort.

"Why am I even trying? Gosh!" Fallon said as he took the stage to perform The Rolling Stones' "Undercover of the Night." Fallon's dance moves were at times spastic, but he proved that he's got moves like Jagger.

When it seemed Fallon may have a chance at the lip sync title, Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" blasted from the speakers and Cruise slid across the stage amidst a cheering audience that remembered the actor lip syncing and dancing to the song in the 1983 movie "Risky Business."

The "Mission: Impossible" star took pity on Fallon and decided not to revive the classic scene. Instead Cruise sung something for the Jersey girls: Meat Loaf's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light."

Later, Fallon and Cruise joined together and serenaded a woman in the audience with the Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

The Weeknd was so impressed with Cruise's performance that he praised the actor on Twitter, writing, "I can't believe @TomCruise is singing my song. @jimmyfallon you're the MAN for this one... that sh*t got me hype... lol I can't lie."
