"The View" will welcome former co-host Sherri Shepherd back to the show next season as a lead contributor.

After hosting ABC's "The View" for seven seasons, Shepherd left the popular daytime talk show last August, along with co-creator Barbara Walters, reports Yahoo! TV. Since then, the ABC morning show has suffered from a drastic dip in ratings. The show has also gone through a revolving door of co-hosts that has included Rosie O'Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace within the last 11 months.

Meanwhile, Shepherd has spent the last year starring in the Broadway production of "Roger And Hammerstein's Cinderella." Shepherd was the first black actress to play the Evil Stepmother in show's history.

She also joined the cast of the TV Land comedy "The Soul Man," while filming co-starring roles in the upcoming films "Ride Along 2" and "Woodlawn." Shepherd also stars in and executive produces a new series on The Cooking Channel called "Holy And Hungry," set to premiere in August. Additionally, Shepherd has been featured on a comedy tour across the country, while also working on a new book following her divorce.

According to Deadline, Shepherd will appear in about 50 episodes as a contributor on "The View" in the upcoming 19th season. The 48-year-old comedian is expected to lead a group of contributors that also would include Stacy London and Molly Sims.

Last week, it was reported "Full House" alum Candace Cameron-Bure and "Good Morning America" anchor Paula Faris are also expected to join the hit talk show series next season. The two women would replace outgoing hosts Wallace and Perez, reports The New York Daily News. They would also join original host Whoopi Goldberg and newcomers Raven Symoné and comedian Michelle Collins at the "Hot Topics" panel.
