LG G Pad 2: New Tablet to Replace G Pad 8.3 Expected in October
The LG G Pad 8.3 was an impressive device with a metal body and excellent screen. Now, according to rumors, it is getting an update this fall, Tech Radar reports.
The LG G Pad 2 is expected to replace the G Pad 8.3 this October. The tablet will continue to offer the 8.3-inch screen, but its resolution is expected to be upgraded to 1080p, according to the user Leaksfly on Weibo.
The inside of the LG G Pad 2 is also set to receive some upgrades as well. The LG G Pad 2 will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor. There will be 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage offered. The tablet will have a 8 megapixel (MP) rear-facing camera and a 5 MP camera on the front.
The operating system used on the LG G Pad 2 will be an updated version of Google's Android. The tablet will use Android 5.1.1.
While these are not high-end specs for a tablet, the LG G Pad 8.3 was fairly priced for its specs and it is expected that the G Pad 2 will be as well.
The LG G Pad 2 could come out at the same time as the giant LG G Pro 3 phablet. The G Pro 3 smartphone is expected to have a 6-inch QuadHD display with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, be powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, have 32 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM and a 20.7 MP main camera, according to Android Community.
Leaksfly is not reporting where it got its information on the rumored LG G Pad 2, but they do have a history of getting things right in the past. Just recently, Leaksfly was able to obtain leaked photos and mostly correct specs of the HTC One M9 Plus. While there is no announcement officially from LG, the LG G Pad 8.3 could definitely use an update.
