Ronda Rousey Intimidated Cleveland Cavaliers Superstar LeBron James at ESPYs
LeBron James admitted that he wanted to talk to Ronda Rousey during the 2015 ESPY Awards, but the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar admitted he was intimidated by the UFC superstar.
During a Q&A through his Twitter account, James was asked how long he will last if he faces Rousey inside the Octagon. The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player said it depends on how long Rousey wants the showdown to last.
James quickly added that he wanted to introduce himself to Rousey during the ESPYs, but decided not to do so.
"As long as she wanted me to last," James posted on Twitter. "I wanted to introduce myself to her at the ESPYs but didn't want her to kick my butt."
During the event, Rousey took the spotlight after taking the Best Fighter and Best Female Athlete awards. For the Best Fighter award, the Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion edged undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Conor McGregor Says Rousey is an Animal
Meanwhile, UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor also had an interesting take on Rousey's intimidating aura.
McGregor told The Sun that Rousey could take him down easily based on what he witnessed when he met Rousey before. He said he has never seen back muscles as solid as Rousey's before, which makes him believe the UFC women's superstar has enough strength to throw him down in an instant.
"I swear on my life her back muscles were the most solid back muscles I'd ever felt in my life," McGregor said via Bleacher Report. "I thought if this lady was to get a hold of me she would throw me on my head in literally one second flat. So I would not like to engage in a clinch fight with Ronda."
McGregor also said that Rousey elevated women's mixed martial arts because of the way she attracted fans with her dominating presence inside the Octagon.
"As far as the women's game she has created the women's game," McGregor said. "Without her all these women would still be going without food at night. So she is running her side of the game."
Rousey, who holds an unblemished 11-0 record, is scheduled to defend her UFC women's bantamweight title against Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on Saturday at the HSBC Arena in Brazil.
The 28-year-old is confident she will successfully defend her title. After winning against Correia, Rousey revealed she might face Miesha Tate in a rematch despite winning in their first two bouts.
