Lawyers for former NFL star Aaron Hernandez may be closing in on their chance to question a witness believed to have information about a juror who may have mislead the court in order to be assigned to his murder case.

According to the Boston Globe, the woman making the accusations against the juror has been in "personal contact" with Hernandez since he was arrested on murder charges in June of 2013 in the killing of Odin Lloyd.

More recently, the 25-year-old former New England Patriots tight end was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The new information about the potentially tainted juror was disclosed by Hernandez's defense attorney James L. Sultan in an affidavit recently filed with the Bristol Superior Court that seeks to overturn his conviction.

The Globe adds the female tipster claims the juror knew about Hernandez also facing double murder charges in a 2012 drive-by shooting in downtown Boston and thought it would be captivating to be involved in such a high-profile case.

While the informant declined to identify herself to Sultan, her identity has since been uncovered through a court order allowing for the examination of her cell phone records. In court records made public, there is no description of how the woman made "personal contact" with Hernandez while he was incarcerated without bail.

"There is reason to believe that this individual likely possesses information relevant to whether a juror was exposed to prejudicial, extrinsic information, including but not limited to, the identification of other potential witnesses,'' Sultan wrote.

Mass Live reports Superior Court trial judge E. Susan Garsh have given prosecutors until July 31, to respond to Sultan's motions.

Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace also face murder charges and are still awaiting trial in connection with the killing of 27-year-old Lloyd.
