David De Gea was one of United's rare bright spots last season.

The "Red Devils" suffered key injuries and issues that forced Louis van Gaal to field in a total of 37 different players a season ago.

Despite his consistent play in the Premier League, De Gea could not escape transfer rumors linking him to the Spanish League, more specifically to Real Madrid.

These speculations come as no surprise as De Gea himself has expressed an interest in going back to Spain where he enjoyed several productive seasons with Atletico Madrid.

Van Gaal has admitted that his star goalkeeper's plea has made it cloudy for the club going forward.

ESPN quoted van Gaal saying, "We have a situation that is not favourable for David De Gea, neither for us and neither for the club that, maybe, he wants to go."

If a current report is any indication, De Gea would not be causing any more problems for United.

On the contrary, he is reported to be a key part of the solution since it has been reported that he will complete a transfer deal to Real Madrid this week.

According to Spanish outlet La Razon, the keeper may soon sign a deal with Real Madrid worth around £24.5 million.

Initially, United did not want to entertain transfer talks with Real unless it involved defender Sergio Ramos.

De Gea is in his last year of contract for United and Van Gaal is surely aware that he had to move the goalkeeper in this transfer window lest getting nothing in return for him next year.

It appears United have conceded to part ways with De Gea even if meant that they won't be getting Ramos in return as Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has said the 29-year old defender is staying at the Bernabeu.

Sam Johnstone replaced De Gea at half-time in United's 2-0 defeat by Paris St-Germain on Wednesday's International Champions Cup match that took place in Chicago.

Meanwhile according to The Independent, van Gaal said after United's loss that he did not know the whereabouts of Angel Di Maria.

Paris St-Germain manager Laurent Blanc was less evasive in his press interview as he opened up about the Di Maria rumors. He said negotiations between two prominent clubs "can be difficult" but Manchester United and PSG are nearing the end of the Di Maria deal, Sky Sports reported.
