The second season of Robert Rodriguez's hit TV adaptation of his 1996 film "From Dusk Till Dawn" puts Demi Lovato in the crosshairs of the bloodsucking, snake-like vampires in the series.

According to Deadline, Lovato has signed on for the series on the El Rey network.

Lovato and Rodriguez are no strangers to each other. During the casting phase of his sequel film to the popular "Spy Kids" franchise, she read for a part on the show. They have known each other ever since, and he has had nothing but praise for the young actress.

"I've known her since she read for 'Spy Kids 3,'" Rodriguez said about Lovato. "She's going to be a bad*ss."

He also spoke about when in the season she is going to appear on the show. The pop star has quite a busy schedule, but near the end of the second season, she was able to pencil in some time to star in an episode. Rodriguez also said he is going to make sure and direct that particular episode himself with the young starlet.

Rodriguez is actually quite an accomplished filmmaker. Although he is perhaps best known for his work on gritty, western-themed content, he has a diverse range of films under his belt, according to his IMDb page.

The beginning of his notoriety emerged with his film franchise that started with "El Mariachi," which spawned the sequels "Desperado" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." These are films that his good friend Quentin Tarantino had a hand in as well.

His other genre's include kids films, westerns, horror and film noir. His most recent collaboration on film was for the "Sin City" sequel.

In the kid genre, he has done the three "Spy Kids" movies and "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl."

In the horror genre he's done "From Dusk Till Dawn," "The Faculty" and "Planet Terror."
