Emma Watson fans rejoice because the beloved actress has just signed on for her next project.

The LA Times reports that the actress has joined the cast and crew of writer-director Alejandro Amenabar's upcoming thriller film "Regression."

"I am passionate about Alejandro and his work and am so happy to be collaborating with him. I'm really excited by the challenge my character presents to me as an actress," Watson said in a statement.

Amenabar has had previous successes in the thriller genre including the 2001 film with Nicole Kidman titled "The Others." The movie pulled in north of $200 million worldwide, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Amenabar will be directing his original screenplay alongside his longtime partner Fernando Bovaira who is producing the film for MOD Entertainment banner along with Canadian producer Christina Piovesan, says The Wrap

"Emma is a beautiful, humane, sensitive and very talented woman, and I feel very fortunate to be working with her. I'm sure that her long-standing stellar career has barely begun," announces Amenábar.

Emma has been cast opposite Ethan Hawke but to date, the storyline has not been made public.

RTE has published that the film is thought to be about a father (Hawke) who is arrested for sexually abusing his daughter although he has no recollection of any of the crimes and through the help of a psychologist he begins to wonder if he is playing a part in a nationwide conspiracy.

As much as there is such a craving for zombies and the undead, if RTE is right, it's highly likely Emma will not be channeling scenes from TV series The Walking Dead.

Watson is best known for her role as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter. In 2012, she starred in the drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower as well as made appearances in The Bling Ring and This Is The End.

The 23-year old actress has gone back to Brown University to complete her undergraduate degree in English which she's scheduled to earn by March 2014.

The Weinstein Company's Dimension will release the film in 2015 with FilmNation handling international sales.
