Michael Strahan asked One Direction's Louis Tomlinson about his expected baby after the boy band's performance on Good Morning America Tuesday, Us Weekly reports.

"Louis, from one father to another I want to congratulate you on your upcoming fatherhood. So how are you feeling?" Strahan asked the singer.

Tomlinson had not talked about the pregnancy since Us confirmed the news on July 14.

"Thank you. Obviously it's a very exciting time. So thank you," the 23-year-old replied.

The British boyband member is expecting his first child with stylist Briana Jungwirth.

"Louis didn't expect this, but he's excited for it now," an insider told the magazine at the time. "He's become very close friends with Briana this year and now they are looking forward to being parents. He's definitely going to be there and be a great dad for their baby."

The insider also revealed the couple is not together but they have agreed to co-parent.

News of the pregnancy was also a surprise to bandmate Liam Payne.

"Well, obviously I was a bit shocked, but he's taken super well to it," Payne said on Monday. "He's very excited with what's going on with him at the moment and I feel that stuff like that happens sometimes. He's taking it very seriously."

The British boy band member and Los Angeles-based stylist met through mutual friends earlier this year after Tomlinson split from his longtime girlfriend Eleanor Calder in March and have been spotted on several dates prior to the pregnancy news, People reports.

"Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer," a mutual friend of the couple told the magazine.

Tomlinson has been searching for properties in L.A. to be closer to the baby. He has also flown across the country to make it to Jungwirth's doctor appointments, promising to be active in his child's life.
