iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus News, Rumors & Features: New iPhone Coming This Fall with Improved Camera
Apple will likely introduce a new version of the iPhone this September. The next iPhone is expected to be called the iPhone 6S, according to Tech Radar.
When Apple releases an "S" model of the iPhone, they usually focus on the internals of the device and leave the exterior design unchanged. That is likely what will happen with the iPhone 6S. Despite rumors of the home button disappearing, leaked pictures of the iPhone 6S show an exterior that is pretty much identical to the iPhone 6.
The dimensions of the iPhone 6S are not expected to change much, except it could get a little thicker. The ugly plastic strip on the back of the device may disappear though. Apple might choose to use liquidmetal for the body of the iPhone 6S, a stronger material.
The screen on the iPhone 6S is expected to remain at the same size as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6S would have a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6S Plus would have a 5.5-inch screen. This may be the first screen on an iPhone to support Force Touch technology which distinguishes between a light tap and a more forceful tap to perform different functions. Another screen possibility for the iPhone 6S is the strong and protective sapphire glass.
Cameras on iPhones have always been highly respected, but they have lagged behind competitors in megapixels (MP). For the first time, the iPhone is expected to get a 12 MP camera. It is expected to use a two-lens camera system for the rear camera and the quality of the pictures are expected to be near DSLR-quality.
Thanks to a more efficient processor, the battery life on the iPhone 6S is expected to improve. Speeds will also be faster thanks to a new Qualcomm LTE chip.
Apple is currently working on its latest operating system, iOS 9 which will come pre-installed in the iPhone 6S. The iPhone 6S is expected to debut at the end of September.
