"Criminal Minds" fans might be in for a treat since there is a chance that "Glee" star Jane Lynch might reprise her fan-favorite role in Season 11 of the long-running CBS series.

Executive producer Eric Messer revealed that the series is looking to get Lynch back on the show as Spencer Reid's mentally ill mother, Diana.

It's been seven years since Lynch's character was featured on the show in Season 4. However, Messer said she is hoping to bring Diana back now that Lynch has more time in her schedule.

"With Glee finished and [Lynch's new show Angel From Hell] is on CBS ... I don't think that will be a problem," said the showrunner to TV Guide. "We absolutely want her back. I've talked to Matthew about it. We've got to find a reason to bring her back because I don't want it to be unrealistic or just to have her. And we want to be able to use her well too," she said.

During her stint on "Criminal Minds," Lynch played a recurring character who suffers from schizophrenia. As a result, Diana's illness has a dire effect on her relationship with her son, played by actor Matthew Gray Gubler, who decided to have his mother committed as a teen. However, their troubled mother-son relationship helps to shape and define the person Reid is as an adult, notes Cinema Blend.

Diana was last mentioned in Season 9, when Reid received a postcard from her about her supervised trip to the Grand Canyon.

"She was doing well last we heard, which is great," Messer says. "But often with the drama shows, you need a dramatic reason that she's back, so we're going to figure that out first. But I think she'll come back and play again."

"The Mentalist" star Tim Kang also teased that he will make a guest appearance in the upcoming season of the police drama in a tweet.

"Thank you @CrimMinds_CBS for having me. It was great working with all of you!!," Kang wrote on Twitter in late July.
