The fifth beta of iOS 9 has been released to developers. It came 18 days after iOS 9 Beta 4. What difference can two weeks and four days bring? Apparently, a lot.

According to Mac Rumors, Apple's Beta 5 was seeded to developers for testing yesterday and it featured a couple of new tweaks. It introduced a WiFi calling option for AT&T users, a new keyboard, and an unusual amount of fresh wallpapers.

Wi-Fi Calling

WiFi calling won't be exclusive to Sprint and T-Mobile users anymore as Beta 5 has now made it available for AT&T subscribers in Beta 5. The new feature will also include Wi-Fi Assist. Assist will utilize cellular data in the event Wi-Fi connectivity in the area is poor. Although AT&T does not support Wi-Fi as of the moment, it has earlier announced that the feature will be available later this year.

Keyboard Tweaks

Beta 5 has renamed "Text Shortcuts" to "Text Replacement" to incorporate elements of the Mac. There also has been a change on the glyphs of some of the keys, which you can see here.

New Wallpapers

Beta 5 has also replaced much of iOS 8's wallpapers with a hefty collection of colorful new wallpapers.

"The images range from colorful desert dunes to several different colors of feathers, plants, planets, and multi-colored explosions. They're all packed with detail, showing off the photorealistic rendering abilities and vivid color palettes of Retina displays," 9to5Mac reported.

CarPlay

There is a subtle change in the CarPlay interface. The heart button will now have support for liking songs. All music could now be shuffled at once with a widget at the top of the Music app. The "Now Playing" screen has also been revamped.

Handoff & Suggested Apps

The lockscreen will no longer have the App Store suggestions. Only app suggestions for already installed apps will be displayed.

Wi-Fi animation

The Wi-Fi symbol will now fade to gray as it disappears when turning off Wi-Fi access. It is a far cry from earlier versions. Previously, the bars indicating the Wi-Fi access disappear one after the after when Wi-Fi is turned off.

Siri Interface

Labels for call and texts in Siri Suggestions have been removed. Instead, only icons will be shown.

Beta 5, which has build number 13A4325c, is now available as an over-the-air update. It can also be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center.
