Rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested on assault charges Wednesday after throwing a protein drink at a NYC Chelsea gym employee, ABC News reports according to AP.

Authorities say the 43-year-old Brooklyn-born rapper, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr., was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Steel Gym.

Busta was released from jail early Thursday morning and is ordered to appear in court on Nov. 6.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department said Busta was involved in a dispute with a worker at the gym. The dispute quickly escalated and Busta Rhymes allegedly threw a 17-ounce cardboard container of strawberry protein drink at the man's head.

The rapper's lawyer, Scott Leemon, said he is confident that Busta will beat the charges, according to The New York Daily News.

"It's ridiculous; it was literally a bottle of Muscle Milk. This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong. This is a bunch of bull," Leemon said.

There are no reports of the man being injured by the rapper. Yet, NBC News 4 reported that the victim's head was cut by the cardboard box, although no medical assistance was requested following the incident.

Witnesses say Busta first started arguing with the employee because the rapper wanted to bring a cameraman into the gym to record him working out. The victim refused to allow the cameraman into the gym.

On the next day, Rhymes got into another disagreement with the employee and ended up throwing the protein shake at him. It is unclear if there was any drink left in the cardboard box, but police came to the scene and charged the rapper with second degree assault.

Meanwhile, Busta showed his fans that he is okay by posting an Instagram photo.

"Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I'm good and we're back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bullsh*t into GREATNESS. I'm super good.#THECONGLOMERATE," he captioned the post.
