There is certainly no shortage of horror dramas on TV these days. Now that ABC has picked up a "Monster" drama from the writers of "Saw IV" and "Saw V," the packed horror TV market just got a little tighter.

According to Deadline, the dramatic horror show has been tentatively titled "Monstropolis" and comes from writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The two are most known for the work they did on the highly successful "Saw" franchise, which saw several sequels every year on Halloween until "Paranormal Activity" came on the scene.

In this new series, the writing engineers have envisioned a new show set in the fictional town of New Manhattan where monsters are very much real and live amongst the human population. It is unclear if these monsters do so incognito or out in the open as their real, monstrous selves.

Nevertheless, the monsters have taken on a role reversal and started falling victim to a serial killer who only kills their kind. Although this is something audiences have already seen play out in various forms of pop fiction, the series will emphasize the quality of the plot content by focusing on a character who is a disgraced detective that will be the lead investigator in the case.

The detective will hone in on the killer and try to stop him, but may also fall victim to the perpetrator before he has a chance to do so.

ABC has been attempting to bring this monster mashup style of programming to the network for a while now. In 2013, they also green lit the series "Gothica," which is similar to "Penny Dreadful." It basically interweaves the old stories and characters of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Dorian Grey and Frankenstein's monster. The show was expected to combine their mythologies and create a universe with the characters all together.

There has been no word yet when the "Monster" series will hit the network airwaves.
