Apple to Host Event Introducing New iPhone 6, iPads and Upgraded Apple TV, Find Out When
Apple is expected to host a product launch event the week of Sept. 7 to introduce new iPhones, iPads and a new Apple TV device.
The event is likely to take place on Sept. 9, which is a Wednesday, Buzzfeed reported on Friday. This timeframe for hosting a product launch event matches up with Apple's previous launch events in past years. Last year, Apple announced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Sept. 9. These two iPhones have been Apple's most successful products in company history.
At the product launch event, Apple is expected to introduce updates to the iPad and Apple TV. Normally, Apple hosts separate events for smartphones and tablets. Having all of the devices introduced in one event could point to only small changes being made to the new devices.
An iPad Pro tablet with a 12.9-inch screen has been rumored for months, but it may not be introduced at this event. Buzzfeed is calling the iPad Pro a wild card for this event.
Apple receives two-thirds of its revenue from the iPhone, so it is extremely important for the company to continue putting out exciting new phones with the features that consumers want. Apple is still selling millions of iPhones, but the overall market for phones has slowed and even Apple is suffering from the lack of demand.
Tablets are another focus for Apple and the company must find a way to get buyers excited about them again. The iPad has declined in sales the last six quarters in a row. The iPad Pro, with its bigger screen, could be popular among business users.
The iPhone is on its "S" cycle this year, which means the iPhone 6S is expected to be announced, CNet reports. The iPhone 6S is not expected to change its design, but it will get internal improvements.
