Destiny will get an update to Destiny: The Taken King on Sept. 15. This is an expansion to 2014's Destiny and players will be able to bring over their progress from the game to the expansion, Game Informer reports.

The Taken King adds tons of new missions and gear to an already advanced Destiny world. The Taken King offers much more in the way of weapons and gameplay than last year's downloadable content (DLC) did.

First, there is a new ship/fortress called Dreadnaught. It's a rather large area for Destiny players to explore and battle in. Dreadnaught has narrow hallways, so vehicles like the Sparrow will not fit and players will have to go on foot. Inside Dreadnaught, Destiny developers Bungie have broken apart an exotic weapon into 50 pieces and players will have to find all the pieces to add it to their weapons collection.

Next, there is going to be a whole new leveling system which will be less confusing, especially to novice Destiny players. Destiny veterans will not be punished though and all of the progress and leveling up they have accomplished will carry forward into The Taken King. Light values will be more important in The Taken King than even before. The player will see their character also has a light value assigned to them.

Xur, the provider of exotic weapons and upgrades, will continue to appear on the weekends in The Taken King. Xur will be providing a brand new item called the Three of Coins. This item can boost player's chances of getting an exotic item to drop after their next boss fight.

Destiny: The Taken King will be available at two different price points, depending on what games and add-ons players have purchased in the past. New players to Destiny can spend $60 to purchase the Destiny Legendary Edition for $60. This edition comes with Destiny, Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King all in one pack. Veteran Destiny players who already have the game and the two expansion packs, can add The Taken King for just $40, according to Screen Rant.
