Man Dies At Popular Ohio Amusement Park After Being Struck By A Roller Coaster
A man died after being killed by a roller coaster.
Yahoo reports that James A. Young entered the restricted section of the Raptor roller coaster at the famed Ohio's Cedar Point amusement park. According to reports, Young jumped the fence to retrieve something he dropped on the roller coaster, where he was hit by the roller coaster, which was going 57 mph. Ohio police officials stated that Young dropped his cell phone during the ride.
According to CNN, Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards issued a statement about the incident, "Park safety officials responded immediately to the situation. Unfortunately, the guest has passed away. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased."
The incident happened at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday. Young was 45 years old.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Megan Moore was on the ride when it was suspended for 10 minutes wondering what was going on. She said, "I was in shock because I didn't know what to do. It was terrifying."
On Twitter, Cedar Point tweeted the following about the incident:
At 5 pm, a guest entered a restricted, fenced area of Raptor and was struck by the ride. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Cedar Point, which is the second oldest amusement park in operation according to its website, has attracted over one million people per year. The park is known for its roller coasters, which boast more than 10 miles of track. It has claimed the title of "Roller Coaster Capital of the World."
The park contains 17 roller coasters. The Raptor is an aggressive thrill ride that lasts for 2 minutes and travels up to 57 mph.
