‘Teen Mom 2’ Season 6 Episode 6 Recap: Leah Messer Meltdown, Nathan Griffith Blasts Jenelle Evans [Watch]
The "Teen Mom 2" episode 6 that aired Thursday was one of the most emotionally difficult yet -- not just for the moms and their relationships, but fans as well. It was heart wrenching to watch Leah Messer plead with her husband, Jeremy Calvert, to stay in their marriage after he threatened divorce.
Here's what happened with each "Teen Mom 2" couple on Episode 6:
Nathan Griffith and Jenelle Evans
Jenelle Evans kicked off the episode fighting with Nathan Griffith after he accused her of cheating on him. He asked her why all her other relationship failed, to which she said because she left them. The argument escalated to Griffith accusing her of having mental problems. She shoved liquor bottles at him and told him to "drink some more, buddy." Griffith told Evans she is "trailer trash who hit the lottery," referring to her substantial earnings from "16 & Pregnant" and "Teen Mom 2."
Griffith visited Atlanta, Georgia, for a couple of days on "business." Evans suspected he was up to no good, but she focused on time with son Jace and her mother.
A few days later, Griffith returned home unannounced. He said that his "business meeting" went well, but there was tension in the air. Evans decided to go out with girlfriends that evening to avoid an argument.
The argument happened before Evans left the house. Griffith asked for his ring back, referring to their engagement ring. She refused because it was "a gift." She packed up son Kaiser and their belongings and walked out the door as he shouted, "take the ring off!" She told him not to worry -- she would take it off before going out on the town with friends.
Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert
Messer and Calvert's relationship appears to be unsalvageable. They have not seen each other in weeks. He refuses to deposit money in their joint bank account because he claims that she has a spending problem.
In Thursday's episode, the two meet to exchange their 2-year-old daughter Adalynn. Messer said she was working very hard to better herself but that her efforts did not impress him at all and she was disappointed. Calvert stood beside his truck the entire conversation looking stone-faced. When he had nothing positive or loving to say, Messer started to cry, jumped in her car and drove off, ranting to herself.
Divorce seems to be inevitable as Radar Online reports that Calvert has hired powerful Charleston lawyer Rusty Webb to represent him. Webb is a well-known attorney who handles difficult divorce cases.
Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin
Despite their fight during her Los Angeles trip, Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin planned a Florida trip together, along with friends, in this week's episode.
The couple also decided to enjoy a day together with the kids. While they got something to eat at a fast food drive-thru, Lowry asked her husband if her friend Sterling and her mom could join them on the Florida trip. Marroquin said he'd feel uncomfortable which launched Lowry into a rage. She demanded to be taken home immediately (he was driving). He refused, and continued driving until the couple's car ran over a four-by-four of wood in the road, which blew out a tire.
Later, Marroquin had a serious talk with his sister about his marital problems. He realized that he needed to apologize to his wife and work on his issues.
Lowry met up with her ex, Jo Rivera, who chuckled while telling her that he may be moving into her neighborhood.
Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer
Chelsea Houska is the only "Teen Mom 2" mother not experiencing man trouble. She and new boyfriend Cole DeBoer are getting along well.
Her drama is the ongoing and messy custody battle with ex Adam Lind over their 5-year-old daughter, Aubree.
Houska and Aubree met Taylor Halbur and her daughter with Lind, Paislee, for a play date at Wine & Canvas, which is a venue where people paint canvases and drink wine. The two women talked as the girls painted. Taylor revealed that she plans to settle with Lind outside of court.
"Teen Mom 2" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
