It took 25 years, but two Busan, South Korea-born sisters were recently reunited by chance, thanks to the global popularity of social media. Samantha Futerman and Anais Bordier had no idea that the other existed.

Not only were they sisters, Futerman and Bordier were twins. Identical twins. And they even shared a lot of personality traits with one another like the fact that they are both artistic.

Bordier, a fashion designer, was just watching a YouTube video when she noticed the striking similarities between herself and the actress onscreen. She didn't know what to make of her YouTube discovery.

"When I looked at the video, I -- it was, like, shocking...," Bordier said. "You can't imagine that you might have a twin sister somewhere that you don't know about."

After a little online research Bordier found out that Futerman was born in Busan, on the same day, and placed in separate adoption agencies.

"On February 1st, 2013, I got message on Facebook from a girl in London," Futerman told ABC News' Rich McHugh. "It said she had seen me in [a] YouTube video, then after looking my name up online, saw that we were both adopted, and born on the same day, in the same city. When I saw her profile, it was crazy. She looked just like me."

In the days of cat fishing hoaxes and advanced photo manipulation, it's amazing that Futerman even took Bordier's message seriously. But Futerman responded to the curious message. The two women immediately hit it off.

"It was weird, but I feel like there was a strange calm and comfort as well, and something that I can't really explain," Futerman said on Good Morning America. "We talked for three hours."

After some more online correspondence over Facebook and Skype, the reality of the situation began to sink in.

Though instead of dwelling on all the time together they had lost, the newfound sisters decided to meet in person. Futerman made the first move. She boarded a transcontinental flight to London where her French sister now called home.

To remove any shred of doubt they had a DNA test done. The results confirmed what their guts had been telling them all along. Now the reunited sisters are in the midst of making a documentary about their amazing journey.
