The fifth installment in the hit horror film franchise "Underworld" will feature one of today's most villainous actors to ever grace the small screen. Tobias Menzies has been cast in a role in the upcoming sequel film, according to Deadline.

What is especially unique about Menzies is not just his ability to play villainous characters with such outstanding competency, but that he makes it look easy.

Menzies recently starred in the Starz mega hit series "Outlander" where he played a dual role in the show. He was the 20th century husband of the headlining character of the series, Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and he also played the 18th century ancestor of that same character named Black Jack Randall. Randall was quite possibly the most ruthless and deviant fictional character in the British Empire of the time.

His new role on "Underworld" will be that of Marius, a Lycan leader that emerges to continue the perpetual war that has raged for centuries between werewolves and vampires.

In the last installment of the series, star Kate Beckinsale's character Selene takes on the emerging faction of humans that have unknowingly aligned with a corporation headed by werewolves. This gives the Lycans, who were once close to extinction, the upper hand in the war for the first time in centuries.

It is a highly relevant role for Menzies, considering the roles he's played in the past on shows like "Outlander," "Rome" and "Game of Thrones." He certainly has a unique ability to portray evil characters from classic period shows. Those characters have inherently portrayed qualities of sociopaths, combining the ability to think coherently with the will to commit atrocious acts. Menzies' performances have always made viewers cringe.

In the last episode of season 1 of "Outlander," Black Jack Randall was last seen torturing, raping and completely breaking the series hero, played by Sam Heughan. That episode of the series was directed by Anna Foerster, who is also directing "Underworld 5."
