EPL Week 2 Scores & Table: Manchester City Dominate Chelsea; Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal Win
Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool booked their second win in as many games this season, while Arsenal scored their first victory in Week 2 of the English Premier League.
Manchester City 3 - 0 Chelsea
Manchester City sent a strong message to the rest of the teams on Sunday after scoring an impressive 3-0 win over defending champions Chelsea at Etihad Stadium in front of 54,331 fans.
Sergio Aguero gave Manchester a 1-0 lead before the half. Vincent Kompany then made it to 2-0 in the 79th minute, while Fernandinho netted another goal six minutes later.
After the match, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said that the 3-0 is a "fake scoreline" because Manchester City should have been reduced to nine players. He felt Fernandinho and Yaya Toure should have been sent off.
Manchester United 1 - 0 Aston Villa
Meanwhile, Manchester United also scored their second victory of the season in as many matches, as they escaped with a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on Friday at Villa Park in England.
Adnan Januzaj scored in the 29th minute of the match off a through ball from Juan Mata, which eventually became the lone and game-winning goal.
Manchester United did not surrender a goal for the second consecutive game despite playing without top goalkeeper David De Gea, who is being linked to a move to Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid.
Liverpool 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth
Christian Benteke led Liverpool to a 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth on Monday at Anfield. Benteke converted a right-footed shot off an assist from Jordan Henderson, which he launched following a corner.
The win helped Liverpool get a share of the lead with six points along with Manchester City, Manchester United and Leicester City, who scored a 2-1 win against West Ham United on Saturday.
Arsenal 2 - 1 Crystal Palace
Meanwhile, Arsenal bounced back from a disappointing performance in their season opener with a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace at Sellhurst Park.
Olivier Giroud scored in the 16th minute of the match, while Joel Ward scored the equalizer 12 minutes later. Arsenal took the lead back in the 55th minute off a Damien Delaney own goal.
