Ellen DeGeneres celebrated her seventh wedding anniversary with Portia de Rossi at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles by giving the speech of a lifetime.

E! Online reports the 57-year-old DeGeneres walked away with the Choice Comedian award, besting a field featuring Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart, Jimmy Kimmel, George Lopez and Amy Schumer, and afterwards regaled the audience with a speech about acceptance.

"I wanna say also it feels good to be chosen, but there was a time in my life that I was not chosen," she said. "I was the opposite of chosen because I was different, and I think I wanna make sure that everyone knows that what makes you different right now makes you stand out later in life. You should be proud of being different, proud of who you are."

It was a proud and special moment for a glowing DeGeneres, now reported to be working with de Rossi to put all the issues that have troubled their union behind them and move forward.

For much of the summer, the two have been dogged by rumors of discord and were recently reported to be involved in couple's therapy in a last ditch effort to save their marriage. During the night of the Teen Awards, the two spent much of the evening side by side and at times were spotted holding hands.

As for the award itself and the idea of being true to yourself, DeGeneres also told the crowd, "The most important thing I wanna say is just really embrace who you are, because being unique is very, very important and fitting in is not all that matters."

With a beaming de Rossi looking on, she added, "It's being unique and being who you are. And what an amazing day this is, this is my seven-year wedding anniversary, so happy anniversary."
