FC Barcelona Transfer: Pedro's Exit Imminent, Barca to Target Marco Verratti in 2016
FC Barcelona forward Pedro has been linked to a move to Manchester United for weeks now.
Despite news that Pedro is reconsidering the move due to Louis Van Gaal's handling of Spanish players, Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that the Spanish international has agreed on personal terms with Manchester United and the two clubs involved are very close on agreeing the transfer fee.
Marca has reported the Manchester United Executive Vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward, is in Spain to talk to Barcelona directors Albert Soler and Raul Sanllehi about the transfer fee.
Manchester United are willing to offer £25 million for the player, according to The Guardian. Manchester City are also eyeing a deal for Pedro if they can't reach a deal for Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne.
Pedro has been featured in the last three fixtures of Barcelona, including the two Spanish Super Cup legs, which Barcelona lost to Athletic Bilbao, 5-1 on aggregate.
In other transfer news, according to Goal, Barcelona have been monitoring Paris St. Germain midfielder, Marco Veratti. It is believed that the Spanish club are willing to bid £35.2 million for the Italian international.
Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, said in April about the player, "I have always liked Marco's playing style. He is a player who could fit in at Barcelona."
There is mutual interest for both sides as Veratti told Goal, "Barcelona are one of the strongest clubs in the world and have been for a long time. It is always flattering for a player when such a big club is interested in you. It is up to the people at Barcelona to decide. But it is true that I like their style."
Last April 2014, FIFA announced that Barcelona have been sanctioned with a transfer ban for breaching, in relation to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18. The transfer ban is for two complete and consecutive transfer windows.
The ban ends at the start of 2015 to 2016 winter transfer window, which means that players signed with Barcelona in the previous transfer window will be eligible to play. They can also sign players like Veratti in January 2016.
Barcelona will compete with several teams in the race to sign the 22-year-old Italian midfielder. In a report from Metro, Arsenal, who have been monitoring Veratti for quite some time, want to sign the player.
