If Apple's time-table goes smoothly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro could hit the market just in time for the Holidays this year.

Apple Insider was able to get a copy of a research note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wherein he stated that mass production of the iPad Pro is to commence in September. Meanwhile, its distribution and eventual release could come as early as late October or early November, with the latter being the most plausible.

The analyst also believes that although he is impressed with iPad Pro's Force Touch feature, he does not consider it as its main draw. This ran counter to his statements last April when he announced that the new pressure-sensitive input method would be the most significant improvement to the iOS feature.

Recent criticism on the Force Touch feature on the MacBook and Apple Watch might be the reason why he recanted his earlier statement.

Kuo also touched on the upcoming device's Force Touch-enabled stylus. He said its pressure-sensitive capabilities is "an evolution, rather than a revolution."

He also furthered that the iPad Pro's stylus, which will have Bluetooth compatibility, will be sold separately from the device.

He predicted that only a million e-pens will be shipped even though close to 3.5 million iPad Pro units are to be distributed. This hints at the stylus being an optional rather than an essential part of the device.

Meanwhile, App See recently discovered an iPad Model codenamed "iPad6,8". They unearthed the identifier within their analytics logs.

The find had a resolution of 2732×2048, suggesting that it was in fact the 12.9-inch iPad Pro behind the alias.

What's even more interesting is that it was found to be running on iOS 9.1. This means the new iPad would be released later than the new iPhones, which will run on iOS 9.

When it does arrive, the iPad Pro will be the first major addition in the iPad series. At 12.9 inches, the Pro will be 3 inches wider than the iPad Air 2.

Aside from its pressure-sensitive Force Touch display and optional stylus, the new iPad will also be fitted with a USB-C port that could support peripheral devices.

The iPad Pro could be presented at Apple's upcoming press event this coming September 9. Other devices rumored to also be shown off at the event are the iPhone 6S, the 6S Plus, the iPad mini 4, and the Apple TV (2015).
