Are Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans ready to watch the new season without the "Cavalry?"

Ming-Na Wen, who portrays Agent Melinda May in the series, hints that her character could be leaving Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team for good, TV Guide reported.

"In any situation when someone is so devoted to their work as May was, but then realizing over the last two years that S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't really what she dedicated her life to. That there was definitely a lot of corruption to S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as uncertainty now with the Inhumans being brought in by Coulson. It's going to be figuring out her final decision in Season 3 and I think Andrew will probably play a part in it," Wen told TV GUide.

In the second season's finale, fans watched Agent May packing her things for a much needed break, leaving "for the first time in history," as described by Coulson. Perhaps, she thought about it during her leave.

It is very understandable why May is not confident of having Inhumans around, as seen on last season's episode titled "Melinda," where she encountered and killed an Inhuman child who then became harmful. The incident scarred her for life. Thus, although she became close to Agent Daisy Johnson/Quake, who is also an Inhuman as revealed in the show, she never fully let go of her distrust of Inhumans.

However, there's still hope that she could be back, especially that her ex-husband, Dr. Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood), whom she still has feelings for, is now a very much active adviser of Coulson's organization. Perhaps, she could be guided by Andrew to take a look at the bigger picture or why Coulson is looking for Inhumans.

"What's interesting is now May is disgruntled by S.H.I.E.L.D., but last season when May came to Andrew with the idea of coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D., he was disgruntled and had left the agency. But now he's back working with them and the Inhumans," Underwood stated.

New villain coming?

Meanwhile, a villain may be coming to give Coulson some headaches though veteran character actor Andrew Howard, informed Wales Online. However, it is not yet confirmed if Howard, who will play the role of "Banks," will truly be a bad guy next season. However, given his previous roles in "Limitless," "Taken 3" and NCIS: Los Angeles, there's a high chance he could be.
