Although Nina Dobrev is no longer the leading lady on "The Vampire Diaries," fans will still have a lot to look forward to when the vampire drama kicks off Season 7, including Bonnie and Matt's new love interests, a budding bromance between Damon and Alaric, and the growth of Stefan and Caroline's relationship.

During an interview with TVLine at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, executive producer Julie Plec opened up about the upcoming season, revealing that the title of the season premiere will be "something like 'Day 20 of 22,190.'" She explained that the name will signify Damon's countdown until he is reunited with his girlfriend, Elena.

"It's counting down to the beautiful inevitability of his reunion with his one true love," said Plec. In the meantime, Plec added that Damon will struggle with "what to do with himself and how to behave as a man and a vampire in the interim."

As a result, Damon will find himself drinking in order to deal with Elena's absence. He will also turn to Alaric for emotional support, which will help the two friends get closer since they will both cope with the tragedy of losing their significant others.

"There's going to be tons of bromance because Damon lost his girlfriend, so he basically leans on Alaric's shoulder to cry on and Alaric, incidentally, is going through the real-world version of what Damon is going through and they will cry on each other's shoulders -- in a manly way," teased executive producer Caroline Dries at the TCA press tour, according to Seat42F.

Dries added that viewers will definitely see Alaric struggle with Jo's death by turning to alcohol and attempting to communicate with the dead.

The EP also said that the storyline will center on Damon and Stefan and their brotherly love, now that Elena is no longer in the picture.

"Damon and Stefan are really the core of the series," Dries said.

"They have the main love story of the season. The person coming between them -- or whatever you want to call it -- at first it was Katherine, then Elena, and now that will be Lily. So they will come to blows on how to handle the drama Lily is bringing, but they will also realize: 'You are all I've got.' That is kind of the love story."

Meanwhile, Plec hinted that Bonnie will find love in someone who fans will find a "little bit surprising," and then she will eventually fall for another woman. There's also a chance that Matt will meet a nice woman to settle down with.

"I will tell you this: There's a pitch on the table as we speak. I don't know if she's nice yet. In this town, they often have two sides to their personalities, so one can never predict if a nice girl will be a nice girl. But I do think it's time for Matt to start asking himself what kind of people he's willing to be surrounded by. I think you'll be surprised by the answer," Plec said.

The showrunner went on to tease that Stefan and Caroline will be thrown "a fun curveball" in the new season.

During an interview with TVGuide, executive producer Caroline Dries also dropped spoilers about "Steroline," revealing that it's only a matter of time before Caroline gives in to Stefan's charm and good looks.

"As much as there's chaos around her, every time she looks at Stefan she gets butterflies," Dries said. "So, it's only a matter of time before it's like... 'You make me happy.' So, we'll see them get together soon."

However, viewers will have to wait a little while longer before their blossoming romance reaches its peak.

"Their relationship is coming in stages," Dries said.

"Just because two people kiss doesn't mean they're going steady or whatever the term is now. So, they'll have their starts and stops a bit, but we'll explore each of those chapters of the relationship."

The Season 7 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" will air on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
