Windows 10 Mobile: Samsung Working On 12-Inch Tablet with 4GB of RAM, Microsoft's New OS?
Microsoft started seeding its latest OS in July 2015. According to recent rumors, a Windows 10 tablet will shortly follow.
According to GSM Arena via rumors from China, a 12-inch Samsung tablet with built-in Windows 10 operating system is currently in the works.
The device will supposedly include the following specs:
- Super AMOLED 2560 x 1600 or 3840 x 2400p touchscreen display
- 14nm Intel Core M processor
- 4GB of RAM
- 6.2mm thickness
- 600g weight
- S-Pen capabilities
Samsung has neither confirm nor deny the 12-inch Windows 10 tablet, meaning this report should be treated as nothing more than harmless gossip. But before dismissing this rumor entirely, Samsung did produce some Windows gadgets in the past. The most promising of which was the Samsung Ativ S I8750 which ran on Windows 8. The device was launched in December 2012, four months after Microsoft released the Windows 8 on PC in August 2012.
The device featured a 4.8-inch 280 x 720p Super AMOLED touchscreen display, Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, up to 32 GB internal storage, 1 GB of RAM, and micro-SD expandable up to 32 GB. It was fitted with an 8 megapixel front camera with autofocus, LED flash, and check quality. It even had a 2 megapixel front shooter. The device was upgradeable to Microsoft's Windows 8 v8.1.1.
Those specs do not mean much now, but during the handset's hayday, it was all you could ask for a mid-range smartphone. This example may not strengthen the current rumors regarding an upcoming Samsung tablet with a built-in Windows 10 OS, but it does remind people that Samsung has in fact teamed up with Microsoft before.
Moving on to a more certain report, the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge will soon receive the Galaxy S6 Edge+ treatment.
According to Sam Mobile, a new update carrying features from the new S6 Edge+ will arrive on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge shortly.
The software patch carries new icons and lets users of the older S6 variants broadcast live YouTube streaming via the camera app, a new feature initially exclusive on the S6 Edge+. Other cool perks include Samsung Pay, upgraded user interface, Apps Edge, and Vacuum Tube Amp Pro for better audio.
With all the latest upgrades the upcoming update brings, it does not contain improvements in shutter speed control or the ability to save images in RAW format. The update will start seeding in Korea any time soon.
