Although ABC officially put a hold on a proposed spin off for the popular show "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," they are close to green lighting another Marvel series that features characters from the show, according to Variety.

Although they have not characterized this show as a spin off, it will be titled "Marvel's Most Wanted." The pilot show will feature the characters of Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter. Both characters, played by Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, were featured on "S.H.I.E.L.D." and will be the central players in the new show.

Again, the project has not been classified as a spin off series, according to insiders on the project who spoke with Variety. But it seems like the most applicable term to use for the upcoming series, considering the same actors will be playing the same characters from the original show.

The original rumors for a spinoff were shot down during the New York Upfronts for the ABC network. But ABC president Paul Lee left the possibility open with a tease by saying, "It certainly is a possibility of spinning them off."

The careful terminology around the new project is due to the fact that ABC feels like "S.H.I.E.L.D." had finally reached its stride, and messing with the series by giving it a spin off could damage the characters themselves.

The show will be solely focused on Morse and Hunter, instead of the plethora of characters from "S.H.I.E.L.D." It will feature its own unique brand and standalone storylines that only exist within the series.

"S.H.I.E.L.D." will be coming back for season 3 this upcoming fall season on the network and "Agent Carter" will also be debuting its second season. There is another project in the works for ABC that has been kept secret. It is classified as "top-secret Marvel project" and will be piloted by John Ridley ("American Crime").
