'The Originals' Season 3 Spoilers: Actor Yusuf Gatewood Talks About Davina's Role as Regent and its Affect on Vincent [Video]
There will be more drama between the witches on "The Originals" when the vampire series kicks off Season 3 on The CW this fall.
As fans may recall, Davina (Danielle Campbell) has been appointed as regent of the witches of New Orleans. While speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, actor Yusuf Gatewood opened up about how that will affect his character, Vincent, and what fans can expect to see in the new season.
"This season, with Vincent, I think, as we saw at the end of the last season, he's sworn off magic and he's trying to be somewhat of a mentor to Davina, who's risen up in the ranks and is now the regent, but whether or not his voice is going to be heard by Davina at this point remains to be seen," Gatewood told BuddyTV.
"And I think we have some other interesting challenges that are going to present themselves to Vincent" as the season unfolds, he added.
The series star went on to say that Vincent is "definitely a powerful witch." Although fans will see some of his knowledge in Season 3, it's unclear whether or not he'll practice that magic.
Executive producer Michael Narducci also dropped spoilers about the upcoming season, which will focus on the Original siblings' sire lines.
"Our show is a family drama set in a supernatural world where the family is immortal. There are ups and downs and highs and lows, and this is a story of cycles of abuse and a desperate need to connect, and try and redeem one another. I think that's the story we're going to continue to tell," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
"This notion of, can Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) change? What is Elijah's (Daniel Gillies) responsibility to this brother that is so damaged? Can Rebekah (Claire Holt/Maisie Richardson-Sellers) ever find freedom, or will she be lured back into the family. And is Freya (Riley Voelkel), who herself was an abused and damaged soul, going to find any healing by being connected to these people? So it's a story of love, and passion and connection and redemption set in the backdrop of this violent, vampire world," said the showrunner.
The new season of "The Originals" will premiere on The CW on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EDT.
