‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Adds Transgender Model Amiyah Scott to Cast
Producers of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" are currently in talks to hire transgender model Amiyah Scott as an official cast member next season, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Though neither Scott nor Bravo has publicly confirmed this casting, sources from EW claim that Scott is friends with a lot of the women on the show, so the chances of her getting cast are high.
Scott was recently filmed attending event by "RHOA" cast member Kenya Moore, and the scene will reportedly air on the show's upcoming eighth season.
It is unclear whether Scott will join the show as an official housewife with her peach in hand or if she will come on as the friend to an official cast member.
However, the Hollywood Life suggests that Scott's significant social media following and successful career as a model and beauty guru will certainly have people tuning in.
THL reports that in addition to her successful career, Scott has also been romantically linked to famous celebrities, including Soulja Boy, Ocho Cinco, and Boobie Gibson.
According to TMZ, Scott began her transition when she was 17 years old and initially went by the name Arthur before her transition.
Since her transition, Scott has been a spokesperson for the transgender community and continues to raise awareness on transgender issues.
During a 2011 interview with Fab Femme, Scott discussed the challenges she faced with opening up to her family and friends about wanting to transition.
"Realistically I am transgendered and it's something that I can't hide," she said. "It's not going to be a secret. I realized around 18 or and I just realized this would be a secret I couldn't keep. I want a life and a family just like everyone else. I don't want to live in the dark about who I am anymore."
