The current hype for the pending release of next summer's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" can add a new film to the momentum. "Man of Steel 2" is currently making progress through the pre-production stages by filling in production roles for the project, according to Comic Book.

George Miller, the creative mind behind the "Mad Max: Fury Road" reboot film, will also be a taking a shot at the Superman universe, reportedly signing on as the director for the sequel to Zack Synder's 2013 hit film. The 2013 film was also considered a reboot of the Superman universe, using no actors from the previous installment of "Superman Returns."

As of right now, Comic Book reports that Miller's involvement in the sequel film is only a rumor, as confided by documentary producer Jon Schnepp. You can see a video below of Schnepp discussing it with what appeared to be confidence.

Schnepp's recent documentary was "The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?"

His comments, although they did not include a source for his information, seem to be somewhat justified, considering Miller is definitely in the good graces of Warner Bros. since turning out the hit "Mad Max" film this year.

It was rumored back in 2008 that Miller was going to helm the first attempt DC would make at a Justice League film, but that seemed to fall to the wayside. Now, Snyder will be taking the reigns of that universe and marking the direction the universe will be taking as a whole.

It does seem logical though that Warner Bros. would want to make it up to Miller by giving him a swing at the next on-screen installment of Superman in "Man of Steel 2." Although there is no release date as of yet, "Man of Steel 2" will be part of the larger DC cinematic universe and will play a major role in upcoming films for the popular comic book series.
