Bundesliga Week 2 Scores & Table: Bayern München & Dortmund Win, Schalke & Wolfsburg Earn Draw
The second week of the Bundesliga kicked off with Schalke 04 earning a draw against the recently promoted side, Darmstadt 98. Last year's runners-up, Wolfsburg, were also held to a draw by FC Köln while defending champions, Bayern, won a close one against Hoffenheim. Borussia Dortmund thrashed Ingolstadt, topping the league's table. Here are the scores and tables according to reports from Goal.
Schalke secured a point in their match against Darmstadt after being held to a draw at the Veltins Arena. Konstantin Rauch scored for the visitors in the ninth minute with a curling shot.
Julian Draxler equalized two minutes into the second half, scoring a lovely goal from a Franco Di Santo cross. The home side controlled most of the match but couldn't score a second goal to win.
FC Köln held Wolfsburg to a draw in the RheinEnergieStadion. Dieter Hecking's side looked vulnerable as they conceded a goal in the 30th minute.
Simon Zoller scored the goal for the home side past Koen Casteels. Nicklas Bendtner entered in the 74th minute to score the equalizer for Wolfsburg. He tapped the ball into the goal after Timor Horn saved a Bas Dost shot in the 86th minute.
Kevin De Bruyne played a good game for Wolfsburg as he created several chances. This might be his last game for the German side as he is set to leave for Manchester City.
Hoffenheim 1 - 2 Bayern München
Kevin Volland scored nine seconds into the match after intercepting a poor pass from David Alaba. The goal matched last year's record of Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi for the fastest Bundesliga goal ever set.
Bayern recovered as Thomas Müller scored the equalizer in the 41st minute. Hoffenheim looked like they would hold Bayern to a draw, especially after Jerome Boateng was sent off with two consecutive yellow cards.
Douglas Costa put a dribbling display in the final minute as he moved past the defenders to give the assist to Robert Lewandowski, securing the win.
FC Ingolstadt 0 - 4 Borussia Dortmund
Matthias Ginter scored his first ever goal for BVB in the 55th minute scoring from a Henrikh Mkhitaryan pass. Marco Reus converted a penalty in the 60th minute after Marcel Schmelzer was fouled in the box.
Shinji Kagawa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put on the finishing touches as they scored the 84th and 90th minute, respectively.
