The smartphone market is getting even more crowded with new entries from smaller competitors. The OnePlus 2 comes from the very young company OnePlus, and it has similar qualities to the well-established Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Gizmag reports.

At first glance these two smartphones look very similar. A closer look reveals that the iPhone 6 Plus is 6 mm taller, 3 mm wider and 28 percent thinner than the OnePlus 2. There is the slightest difference in weight, with the iPhone 6 Plus weighing 172 g compared to the OnePlus 2's weight of 175 g,

The iPhone 6 Plus uses aluminum for the entire body, with just one piece for the whole handset. The OnePlus 2 uses both aluminum and magnesium, and its back plate is made of a combination of sandstone and plastic. Bamboo, rosewood, apricot and kevlar are also choices for the OnePlus 2's back plate. The OnePlus 2 is only available in black, but these other back plates allow for some customization.

The two smartphone screens are identical in size and resolution. Both 5.5-inch IPS displays have resolutions of 1,920 x 1080 displaying 401 pixels per inch (ppi).

Apple has been offering a finger print sensor since the iPhone 5S. OnePlus did not include a finger print sensor in the OnePlus One, but did add one to the OnePlus 2.

The OnePlus 2 is available in two size options, either 16 GB or 64 GB. The iPhone 6 Plus adds a 128 GB option. Neither device offers a microSD slot for expandable storage, so the choice that customers make for storage is important.

The processor for the OnePlus 2 is one of the latest Qualcomm has introduced, the Snapdragon 810. Recently released devices, including the HTC One M9 and the LG G4 have had overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810. OnePlus promised to use an updated version of the Snapdragon 810 processor to avoid these issues. The OnePlus 2's 64 bit processor is eight cores and 1.8 GHz compared to Apple's A8 dual core processor that runs at 1.4 GHz.

The OnePlus 2 wins the RAM battle with a choice of 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 Plus lags behind with just 1 GB of RAM.

For cameras, the OnePlus 2 has two more powerful cameras than the iPhone 6 Plus. The rear-facing camera in the OnePlus 2 is 13 megapixels (MP), compared to the iPhone 6 Plus' 8 MP. The front-facing camera in the OnePlus 2 is 5 MP and just 1.2 MP in the iPhone 6 Plus. Additionally, the OnePlus 2 has a wider aperture for its rear camera.

The big difference between the two devices is price. Without a contract, the OnePlus 2 starts at just $329. That's a big difference compared to the iPhone 6 Plus starting price of $749 without a contract.
