Chicago Blackhawks star forward Patrick Kane has met with investigators probing rape allegations brought against him by an unidentified woman in his hometown of Buffalo.

The Buffalo News reports sources claim Kane recently spoke with an investigator from the Erie County District Attorney's Office and possibly a detective from the Hamburg Police Department. Reportedly, all the grilling took place in the presence of Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria.

While Cambria declined to comment, The News adds the probe is being handled as a joint investigation led by the DA's Office and Hamburg police.

The 26-year-old, three-time Stanley Cup champion is accused of attacking and overpowering the woman in his Hamburg home, after she and another female friend accompanied him there after meeting at the Skybar nightclub in downtown Buffalo in the early morning hours of Aug. 2.

The woman later went to a local hospital and underwent tests from a rape examination kit, during which time she reportedly also displayed bite and scratch marks on her body.

Kane was being chauffeured that night by off-duty Buffalo Police Lt. Thomas English, but reports are he has told investigators he never entered the home and only dropped the three off at the waterfront property. Kane has not been charged with a crime and has not publicly spoken about the ongoing probe.

The Hawks selected the eight-year veteran with the top overall pick in the 2007 draft, and a year ago the team signed him to an eight-year, $84 million extension.

The News reports the slow moving nature of the case is typical of rape investigations, where the approach taken by prosecutors is often methodical and cautious.

Frank A. Sedita III, the Erie County District Attorney spearheading the probe, has often refused to so much as acknowledge the presence of an investigation, simply referring to the probe to reporters as the "Kane matter."
