NHL 16 Gameplay, Features, Release Date: No Game for Older Consoles, Allows Player to be Team Manager & More [Watch]
NHL 15 was pretty disappointing to reviewers and players as some key features were missing. EA Sports wants NHL 16 to be a solid hockey simulator.
NHL 16 is not coming out for the last generation consoles, instead they will get NHL Legacy Edition, Gotta Be Mobile reports. Xbox One and Playstation 4 will get NHL 16 and Wii U will not be getting a hockey game.
The release date for NHL 16 in North America will be Sept. 15. This is a similar date to when NHL 15 was released last year. Preorders of the game are being accepted now and there should be plenty of stock of the game in most stores on its first day. Xbox One subscribers to EA Access will be able to play the full version of the game 10 hours early, and any progress they make will carry over.
The popular EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL) is returning to NHL 16. This feature allows players to create their own player and then team up with other online users to face another team of mixed online users. EASHL was missing from NHL 15.
An 6 v. 6 Online Team Play mode allows players to control all the players on the ice, including the goalie and face off against another online player. The Online Couch Co-Op is perfect when players have their friends over. They can practice their team skills before heading to an Online Team Play or EASHL game.
In the Be a GM mode players will have to manage an AHL and NHL team. Each player is different so managers will have to make sure they are all happy or they could run into conflicts like trade demands or locker room arguments, according to EA Sports.
The game developer also released photos of the mascots for each team available on the game.
Rookie and veteran players of NHL 16 will appreciate the on-ice training sessions. These visual cues will show passing lanes, shooting targets, open teammates and more to help players learn how to master the game.
