The stakes have reached critical mass since the penultimate episode of Season 1's "Scream" this week. Next week's finale, which is titled "Revelations," will air on cable network MTV and conclude the season on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.

With the stakes so high and little room left for what's next, the network has been very tight-lipped about what is going to happen in the finale episode next week. But it does reveal a few things that fans really want to know.

First of all, Emma gets embroiled in yet another game of cat and mouse as she desperately tries to save a loved one. Sheriff Hudson's life hangs in the balance, and there is no way of knowing if he has made it through, so the stakes are not just for Emma and her family, but the fate of the town.

Just like the movies that preceded the series, the season will not end without the audience knowing who the killer is. In the finale episode, all of the mystery and intrigue surrounding his boundless exploits and terror will come to an end as the killer finally gets exposed to unknowing fans. If it is following the movies closely, then you might find out that it is not just one killer but a premeditated arrangement.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the last episode left the fate of the sheriff in limbo as the killer attacks him and shows the bloody video on screen at the dance, leaving students horrified. It is unclear if he is alive or dead. What fans do know is that he took a pretty mean knock on the head.

As evidenced in the trailer, there is no room for error in this moment as the formula starts to make its way into the series. The geeky sidekick Noah is all too aware that he is the likely next victim.
