Rumours are making the rounds about the possible inclusion of the "Shovel Knight" in the "Super Smash Bros." roster, according to a report from Nintendo Life. The Yacht Club Games' famous character is from an action adventure game with a classic gameplay, memorable characters and an 8-bit retro aesthetic.

A reliable source from Nintendo Life claims that "Shovel Knight" is about to make his "Smash Bros." début. Another report from Nintendo Life says that a "Shovel Knight's" amiibo figure will also be released on Nov. 27. The news came from a tweet that has since been removed, probably because it was shared too early. However, this is the best clue that the "Shovel Knight" will be coming to "Smash Bros." The details of the amiibo confirmed that it will unlock content in "Shovel Knight" on Wii U, 3DS and future Yacht Club Games on Nintendo hardware.

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Yacht Club Games has said that a "megaton" reveal will happen this week. As quoted by Nintendo Life, Yacht Club Games' press release said, "We've heard the cries of bringing more exclusive content to Nintendo platforms. It might not be quite what you expect... but keep an eye out for another MEGATON announcement soon!"

According to Gamnesia, Nintendo held a ballot to know what users wanted to add in the game. "Shovel Knight" came in first followed by King K. Rool, Solid Snake of "Metal Gear," Isaac of the "Golden Sun" series, Star Wolf and Ice Climbers. Nintendo Life also held their own survey and Bayonetta came in first followed by the Yacht Club Game character.

As per Shovel Knight's website, the gameplay is about a small knight with a huge quest. The knight has to defeat an evil enchantress and save his lost beloved. His weapon is called a Shovel Blade, a multipurpose weapon with lost techniques.

"Super Smash Bros." was released in Japan on Sept. 13, 2014 and in North America on Oct. 3, 2014. The Wii U version was released later in 2014 as reported by IGN. The franchise started in 1999 with only eight characters but has since expanded. "Super Smash Bros. Melee" was released in 2001 while "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" in 2008.

The current series has a total of 55 characters with four coming as downloadable content. According to the official Super Smash Bros website, the game contains different characters from Mario, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, Wario, Yoshi and Street Fighter.
