The all-wheel-drive Tesla Model S P85D just broke the Consumer Reports Rating system, declaring it the best car in the world in a report by Consumerist. The P85D is very quick, which can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.

The only downside of the car is its high price. According to Consumerist, the car retails at $127,820. The official Tesla website's price for the car is $87,500 after incentives and gas savings. It is a breakthrough model that pushes the boundaries of performance and fuel-efficiency in the American car industry.

The P85D has the following features, according to its website:

  • 253 miles range (EPA)
  • 3.1 seconds 0-60 mph
  • 2.8 seconds with Ludicrous Speed Upgrade

  • 155 mph top speed

To upgrade from Sports to Ludicrous Speed, $10,000 is needed. A Carbon Fiber Spoiler that can improve high-speed stability is available for $1,000. The car also comes with four Tesla Red piston Brembo brake calipers. Other options for the car is the Autopilot Convenience Features, which include self-parking, traffic-aware cruise control, automatic steering with lane-keeping and automatic high and low beam lights.

According to Consumerist, though considered as the best car out there, its interior materials aren't as lavish as others. The interior features an Alcantara headliner and accents, a power liftgate, nappa leather seats and dashboard, interior lighting, fog and cornering lights as well as lighted door handles.

As shown in Tesla's official website, the car also boasts an ultra-high fidelity sound. It can have a concert hall-like feel with its XM satellite radio capability and 12 speakers with neodymium that includes an eight-inch subwoofer. This Tesla product is also good in very cold weather, having rear seat heaters, wiper blade defrosters, washer nozzle heater and a heated steering wheel.

The car just set a new benchmark for car ratings that Consumer Reports has changed some of its scoring in rating cars. In its website, Tesla has announced that a new car, Model X, is coming in 2016, which features falcon wing doors, room for three rows of seating and greater acceleration.

Tesla has entered a partnership with Panasonic to begin the construction of a gigafactory that facilitates the production of the Model 3. By 2020, Model 3 will be in a very affordable vehicle that will cost around $35,000. The gigafactory will help improve sturdiness of the electrical grid, reduce energy costs for businesses and residences and provide a backup supply of power due to the production of lithium-ion cells that has started in 2013.
