Manchester United striker, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, is reportedly signed by German club Bayer Leverkusen according to Kicker. The transfer fee was €16.5 million, and the contract was for three years.

In a report from The Daily Mail, Hernandez said goodbye to his teammates after their loss to Swansea, in which he did not play. Manager Louis Van Gaal gave a speech, thanking Hernandez for all the services he has done for United.

"Chicharito" began his career with C.D. Guadalajara in Mexico before signing with Manchester United in April 2010. In a report from ManUtd.com, he was given a permit the next month before making his debut the next season in a friendly game against MLS All-Stars.

Hernandez appeared 157 times for United in all competitions, scoring 59 goals. He scored 20 goals in his opening season with United following it up with 12 in the next and 18 goals in 2013. He was deemed surplus to requirements by boss Louis Van Gaal. He won two Premier League Titles and a Community Shield with the English Club.

He was loaned to Real Madrid last season with an option to buy, as reported by The Guardian. He appeared in 33 games in all competition for Madrid but scored only nine goals. Madrid did not use their option to buy, sending Hernandez back to United. The 27-year-old striker won the FIFA Club World Cub for the Spanish side.

Based on National-Football-Teams.com, Hernandez has been capped 74 times for the Mexican National Team and has scored 40 goals.

According to another report from The Guardian, Leverkusen has an influx of cash after selling South Korean star winger Heung-Min Son to Tottenham for €30 million. They have already signed Kevin Kampl from Dortmund, but the addition of Hernandez boosts the club's chances to finishing Top 4 in the Bundesliga.

As per Sports Illustrated, Orlando City of MLS was interested in signing him but quickly turned it down. He cited that he want to spend the prime of his career in Europe and not in the U.S.

In a report by ESPN, Wayne Rooney, James Wilson and Adnan Januzaj are the only forwards for United, they are looking to sign Monaco star striker Anthony Martial for €50 million. However, if no deal can be done before the Sept. 1 deadline in the U.K., midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be used by Van Gaal as a striker as reported by International Business Times.
