UFC Superstar Ronda Rousey Talks About Retirement, Cris Cyborg Fight
UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey already has plans of retirement, according to Bleacher Report. Ronda was a guest on Joe Rogan's podcast called the "Joe Rogan Experience." She talked about her future plans including a possible fight against Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino.
A possible fight between "Cyborg" and Rousey has been talked about for years as reported by MMA Junkie. Different obstacles like the fighters' pay, catch weight for the fight and Justino's failed drug tests are needed to be addressed so the most anticipated fight in the history of the Women's division in MMA will happen.
In her interview with Joe Rogan, the most dangerous unarmed woman on the planet said that the "Cyborg" fight will complete her career.
"It just seems unfinished - my career, there's more left to do - I don't feel like I'm done yet. With the Olympics it just like, you win an Olympic gold medal and you're done. With the UFC, when am I really done? I'm not. It feels unfinished still. The 'Cyborg' fight definitely would help," Rousey said, as quoted by MMA Junkie.
"If she never steps up, I'll know why. I'll probably go a little longer waiting for her, but you know, if she showed up sooner rather than later, I don't know how much longer I would go after that," Rousey revealed.
The 28-year-old MMA fighter and actress also told Rogan about the possibility of retirement in her 30s, saying, "I'm not going to be doing this in my 30s; I don't want to be fighting in my 30s. By 30s, I mean like 31, 32. If you're actually 30 years old that's 30, not 30s. Once you add the one, that's 30s, plural."
"I'm 28. I don't know. I look at it exactly like how we were talking about fighting, that's how I do everything else. I don't look at these separate disjointed things. I'm not going to go in there and try this thing and try this thing and try that thing and hope something works out," Rousey added.
Ronda has a future career in the entertainment industry with acting roles on Hollywood movies like "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage: The Movie." She also made an appearance at this year's WWE Wrestlemania and could make future appearances for the wrestling company.
Rousey will defend her belt against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Nov. 14 in Melbourne, Australia. Rousey's last three fights only lasted 64 seconds combined and is going into the fight as the huge favourite. The UFC is looking to break their attendance record as the event will be held at the 90,000-seater Etihad Stadium, as per Yahoo.
